Studio Printmakers Members' Exhibition

Scorched Earth (Detail) by Toni Hartill

It was a pleasure to be a part of the recent Studio Printmakers members exhibition
"Four Seasons" in the main gallery at Lake House Arts in Takapuna.
This was a mini print exhibition with strict parameters resulting in a smart and cohesive display of members' works. It was well received by visitors too with almost half of the works selling.

Studio Printmakers Collective was formed by a group
of practicing Auckland printmakers in 1990.

Initially the aim was to provide a studio where printmakers,
many of whom did not have presses,
could experiment with, develop and edition prints.

Over the years, however, the studio has also developed
as a communal place where printmakers gather
to exchange ideas, hold workshops, organise exhibitions
and meet visiting local and international printmakers and tutors.

I included 2 works in this exhibition.
These works are part of a series focused on the
fragile fragments of kahikatea forest left scattered
on the Hauraki plains.

These prints are created using linocut and monoprint techniques.
Each print is unique and one-off.

You can read more about the making of these works
and others in the series in an earlier blog here.

Actual print size is approximately 75mm wide x 115mm tall.
They are mounted with an acid-free mat
in a plain white frame 233mm x 285mm (10" x 12").

Below are 2 more prints created in the series,
