"Passages" - a joint show

Celia Walker and I are presenting a small show of a
selection of works in the Tindall Hallway
at the Lake House Arts Centre, Takapuna.

Many thanks to Lake House Arts for providing members of
Studio Printmakers Collective the generous use of the hallway gallery space
for a permanent, revolving monthly exhibition.

Celia's works include print and collage landscape-based works
while my works, all also landscape-based, use a variety of techniques
including monoprint, stenciling, collograph, embossing and linocut.

 "Coastal Cruising I - VI"

Monoprint, collograph, stencilling, embossing.

This work is part of a series inspired by my time spent cruising the
Northland Coast of NZ, following in the trails of my grandfather,
AH Pickmere, who mapped this coastline.

Using "The Pickmere's Atlas" as our guide
it is impossible not to be inspired by the ever-changing patterns of the sea, the big sky,

(I can never have too much big sky), and  the infinite off-shore islands
and isolated rocks peppering the coastline.

These works were created using many, many layers of pattern and texture
applied with stencils, collagraph plates, monoprinting techniques and finished off
with an element of blind embossing.

All works are framed in a 12" x 16" white frame
with a Spanish White mat.

Also included will be these 2 mini prints created as part of a series of works
about the decimation of the Kahikatea forests of the Hauraki Plains.
